  1060. <p>ungoogled-chromium is Google Chromium, sans dependency on Google web
  1061. services. It also features some tweaks to enhance privacy, control, and
  1062. transparency (almost all of which require manual activation or
  1063. enabling).</p>
  1064. <p>ungoogled-chromium retains the default Chromium experience as closely as
  1065. possible. Unlike other Chromium forks that have their own visions of a
  1066. web browser, ungoogled-chromium is essentially a drop-in replacement for
  1067. Chromium.</p>
  1068. <p>ungoogled-chromium addresses these issues in the following ways:</p>
  1069. <ul>
  1070. <li>Remove all remaining background requests to any web services while building and running the browser</li>
  1071. <li>Remove all code specific to Google web services</li>
  1072. <li>Remove all uses of pre-made binaries from the source code, and replace them with user-provided alternatives when possible.</li>
  1073. <li>Disable features that inhibit control and transparency, and add or
  1074. modify features that promote them (these changes will almost always
  1075. require manual activation or enabling).</li>
