  1. # Gipsy-King's Cornelius layout
  2. Common typing only needs a base and a symbols layer. Layer changes are on the
  3. thumbs *including* shift and non-english variants.
  4. The importance of having shift on your thumbs is that you don't need to press
  5. some letters with pinky OR ring, depending on shift.
  6. ## Base QWERTY layer
  7. * Tab, Backspace, Space, Ctrl/Alt/Mod are similar to a generic keyboard.
  8. * Esc is like when you remap CapsLock to Esc on a generic keyboard (vim).
  9. * Enter is on right thumb and raises Symbol layer on hold, because you rarely
  10. hold.
  11. * Shifts are on both thumbs!
  12. * Leftmost thumb changes to Xmonad window management layer.
  13. * Rightmost thumb is Right-Alt which is for `us-intl-altgr` layout (althoug I
  14. use kmonad to universally map international characters on all keyboards).
  15. * `-` and `=` are on the lower pinkies.
  16. * `F20` is mic-mute on my thinkpad laptop.
  17. ## Symbol layer (Raise)
  18. * Top row is numbers, bottom row are their symbols. Most people do it the other
  19. way 'round.
  20. * Middle row has curly brackets, and some navigation and arrows.
  21. * Square brackets are on the lower pinkies.
  22. * ```~\|`` are places aroung top/outer corners.
  23. ## Xmonad layer (Window management)
  24. I use Xmonad to completely manage windows with just my keyboard. This layer
  25. accommodates most shortcuts.
  26. ## Fn layer
  27. Lastly, some macros, mousekeys (not used, really), some media keys, and the
  28. function-keys (I use them maybe once in a decade).
